She was born into a Bengali family in Durgapur, Bengal. Her father was an engineer in the nuclear power plant and her mother had a fondness towards art and music. She was educated in Indian Classical Gharana of music. She won the series on popular reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ in of Zee Television. With The help of this show she got the platform to work together with industries like musicians and music directors. Kalyanji personally trained her for eighteen months.
